Pump

Rapid and massive price surge of an asset, often speculative.

Beginner-friendly explanation

A pump is when a token’s price rises very quickly in a short time. It attracts many buyers.
Example: A token jumps from $1 to $2 in one hour.

 Intermediate-level insight

A pump can be organic (hype, good news) or artificial (manipulation). It’s often accompanied by a volume spike.
Example: A DeFi project announces a major partnership, and its token pumps 50%.

 Advanced perspective

Pumps can be organized by trading groups to trap late buyers ('pump and dump'). Analysis should focus on the sustainability of the surge: volume origin, buyer profiles, and order book depth.
Example: On a suspicious pump, a trader notices 80% of the volume comes from a single address.
